Berklee Student Composers to Perform in Valencia in November

 

donThree prize-winning student composers from Berklee College of Music will present their compositions at three of the most prestigious music societies in Valencia, Spain during the Santa Cecilia Festivities.

All concerts are free. There’s no charge for admission.

The three students – Neara Russell (Wisconsin, U.S.), Derek Remes (Minnesota, U.S.) and Amparo Edo Biol (Valencia, Spain) will perform their own compositions in a varied program of contemporary concert music, film scores, and popular rock music. Compositions will include Vocalise for Horn and Piano, Experiment for Solo Piano, and songs “Blush,” “Daisy Walks,” and “Shattered Glass” by Neara Russell; Prelude and Fugue, Rhapsody for Horn and Piano, and two film music clips by Derek Remes; and “Daydream,” “Valse,” “Sweet Song,” and “The Orange Tree” by Ampara Edo Biol.

Neara Russell is a Berklee Presidential Scholar who has performed piano and voice in many venues. She produced two CDs of her music. She is a double major in performance and composition and performs classical as well as pop music.

Derek Remes is a pianist who is a double major in film scoring and composition. Last year he won the Concerto Competition with the Berklee Orchestra as well as winning the Richard Levy Composition Award. This past summer he studied at the prominent European American Musical Alliance in Paris.

Amparo Edo Biol is an SGAE Scholarship winner who also won the prestigious Salvador Segui Composition Prize in 2007. She plays French horn and is a composition and film scoring major.
