VoicesHere's a look at what our community has to say about the Berklee Valencia project. There's a lot more to come, so keep checking back for updates.
"I had a wonderful experience at Berklee. It was there that I heard the great masters of jazz and learned about the discipline, knowledge and human values so necessary for a successful career in our days. Today doors are open to all students in Europe through Berklee Valencia. I congratulate you and give you all my support, sharing this dream made of Sixteenth notes."
"Berklee Valencia is a dream come true! I am certain that the contemporary music world will be enriched on a global basis as a result of the exchange of knowledge, roots and traditions, points of view, and the application of new technologies that will take place at this institution. The generations of students attending Berklee Valencia will be able to benefit from everything that has always been associated with Berklee: innovation, open-mindedness to new trends, professional values, and a high degree of academic excellence."
"I feel great affection for and gratitude to all the people who helped me during my studies at Berklee; who trusted me enough to grant me a scholarship when I was only a promising 19-year-old. They made my dreams come true. There I found knowledge, structure, and, especially, human values: everything necessary for succeeding in my goals. They connected my artistic passion with the reality of work. Berklee Valencia will be the institute that defines contemporary music in Europe. With all my heart, I devote my full support to this project."
"Berklee has meant a lot to me. I have many stories of the incredible experiences I had during my time there. I hope that all musicians who wish to attend Berklee Valencia are able to go, so they can have similarly amazing experiences. Above all, I hope they gain the most valuable thing of all: every piece of musical knowledge that they can acquire."
"The decision I made in late 1975 to study at Berklee was one of the wisest decisions of my life. At that time I was living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and had already built a successful career as a blues and rock musician in Argentina, my home country. However, I still felt a need to know more and to understand better the mysteries of the art and science of music. What I learned at Berklee surpassed my expectations and marked a turning point in my development as an instrumentalist and composer. It empowered me to engage in a new activity: teaching, a task that I now count among my professional highlights. And Berklee has exceeded my expectations yet again by creating its center in Valencia. I am sure it will be an extraordinary project that will integrate perfectly into Spain’s educational landscape. And it will open up rich and surprising possibilities in the field of Twenty-first Century music for students and professionals from Europe, Latin America, and around the world."
"It is great news to hear that Berklee is going to cross the ocean, bringing in its luggage amazing teaching techniques, as well as its enormous respect for human beings and their art. Bon Voyage to Valencia, Berklee. You can always count on my support."
“I can only say that Berklee changed my life. They opened their doors to me by granting me a scholarship when I was 17 years old. As a student at Berklee, I was impressed by the musical and cultural diversity and quality of the whole atmosphere there. I got to know a lot of musicians, with whom I still maintain professional and personal relations 8 years later. It was hard, too, because of the amount of daily work that Berklee expects you to put in, but nowadays I can only be thankful for so much work, because it made me improve a lot as a musician and as a person. Europeans are lucky now to have Berklee Valencia so close.”
"I can only say one thing about Berklee: that it changed my life, from the day I started to see the possibility of studying there until the present day. If Berklee didn’t exist, I would certainly not be a musician today and I wouldn't have the privilege of dedicating my life and earning my livelihood with the thing I love the most. For me, it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever lived and the ideal place to train as a musician. I feel very fortunate for having been able to make my dream come true and I'm very grateful to Berklee for everything I learned there, the extraordinary experiences I had and the friends that I made."
"The most important thing I learned at Berklee was that I still had a lot to learn and seven years later, I’m still studying as if I were at 150 Massachusetts Ave. For me, Berklee represented a a change as regards music, but it also changed me on a personal basis, as I met so many people from all over the world that had made so many sacrifices for a single passion: Music. Berklee is the best combination I know of in terms of teaching staff, educational infrastructure and contact with the world of work. The way the music business is in Spain, we need to train the best professionals and if any school in the world knows how to do that well, it’s the Berklee College of Music. My most enthusiastic support for the Berklee Valencia project. Good luck!" |
